This video is for those who are just starting out and are wanting to create their own business. It’s also useful for those who have already tried this process, but have come across some hurdles and have not managed to quite get there. If you’ve already published quite a few journals, you know, a hundred journals or so, and you’re familiar with the process this video might not be for you. Unless you want to pick up some tips and tricks, which I’ll go through during the video.
Creating a Cover
The first step in creating a journal to sell on Amazon KDP is to create a cover. We’re going to do this at canva.com, which is a free web-based software platform where you can design the cover. Once you’ve signed up, you can create a custom size for your cover. The size of your cover will depend on the size of your notebook and the number of pages. For this example, we’re going to create a six by nine-inch notebook with 120 pages.
Next, we need to download a template from bookow.com. This template will give us the exact dimensions we need for our cover. Once we have the template, we can upload it to Canva and start designing our cover. We can use free graphics from Canva or purchase graphics from a site like Creative Fabrica.
Once we have our cover designed, we can download it as a PDF file and upload it to the Amazon KDP platform.
Getting the Interior for the Notebook
The next step is to get the interior for our notebook. We can download a free lined paper PDF file from my Gumroad shop. This file will give us 120 pages of lined notebook paper. Once we have the interior, we can upload it to the Amazon KDP platform.
Putting it All Together and Uploading it to the Amazon KDP Platform
The final step is to put it all together and upload it to the Amazon KDP platform. We can choose categories and keywords to help our book get found on Amazon. We can also price our book and choose a cover finish.
Once we have everything set up, we can upload our book to the Amazon KDP platform. We can then preview our book and make any necessary changes before publishing it.
