What is Pandorabots?

Pandorabots is a free open-source-based website enabling you to develop and publish chatbots on the web.

The biggest chatbot community on the internet is called Pandorabots. In multiple languages, our free Community Service is home to over 185,000 botmasters and 221,000 “chatbots” as of February 2013. On the Community Server alone, there have been over 1.6 billion conversational interactions between clients and Pandorabots, and this number is growing quickly (it can be seen close to the top of the center of the Pandorabots home page).

User Interface

You can utilize the “Chat design” feature in Pandorabots to create your chatbots by creating the questions and responses on a visual screen:

You can also use the “Intents Tree” if you prefer a less visual experience:

And lastly, Pandorabots is freely available. This implies that you will always have access to your chatbot’s code. AIML, or Artificial Intelligence Markup Language, is a programming language used to create chatbots, and it is the foundation upon which Pandorabots is built. You can simply create an AIML file in Pandorabots and modify its contents:

The visual interface for marketers and the code editor for developers make up Pandorabots’ user-friendly interface, which I believe is accessible to a wide range of users.

However, I don’t think setting up a chatbot is simple. It is crucial to handle context when developing chatbot flows, and this cannot be done without coding AIML. Thus, you need to learn AIML before you can use Pandorabots to create a decent chatbot.

Components of Pandorabots

You can use a variety of chatbot elements from Pandorabots in your own chatbot. They are lacking only a few things, like audio and attachments, but these are by no means fatal flaws. It is possible to incorporate date, phone, and email validation into your chatbot, by the way, but you will have to write the code yourself using the AIML editor. Still, there are enough components to make a good chatbot!

Users/Client

You can ask a user a question in Pandorabots and have the response stored in a variable. However, you are limited to using that variable within the dialogue. You cannot store that data in a database and utilize it the next time a user interacts with your chatbot. This is a disadvantage. Because you will need to create an integration with your own database (which is likely something that requires the services of a developer) if you wish to store user data permanently (like an email address).

Messages

Since the user initiates the conversation in Pandorabots, the chatbot is unable to initiate one. This has the disadvantage of making the use of broadcasts and sequences impossible. However, our chatbot flows allow for the use of conditions. Furthermore, while a chatbot can be programmed to speak any language, it cannot speak more than one language at once.

Channels

With Pandorabots, you can place your chatbot on eight channels:

Integrations

The most crucial integration of any chatbot builder is the live chat feature that is already included in Pandorabots. There are two issues with this live chat, though. First off, live chat is limited to the webchat and landing page and cannot be used on other platforms like Facebook Messenger or Telegram. Second, talking to human agents cannot be done automatically. Only when a human agent manually pauses the chatbot—which doesn’t seem like a logical thing to do—can you use live chat. Additionally, Pandorabots offers an integration with Github, which is particularly helpful for developers. Finally, you can use the Pandorabots API to create custom webhooks.

Promotions

There aren’t many marketing opportunities available with Pandorabots. Only native widgets and landing pages made with Pandorabots can be added to your website. Additionally, you can alter the website widget’s text and color scheme to make it more consistent with your website’s branding:

Regretfully, it isn’t feasible to have distinct greetings on each page.

Pricing

Pandorabots provides a free plan which allows you to test out their platform and decide if it is a good fit for you. This free plan gives allows you to create a decent chatbot and test it out on the Pandorabots platform (but you cannot publish it on one of their channels).

If you want to actually publish your chatbot, you need the Developer plan, which starts at $19 for 10.000 messages per month. With this plan, you can put a chatbot on your website, Facebook Messenger, Telegram and SMS (using Twilio). What is important, is that you cannot use the live chat in this plan.

Should 10.000 messages prove insufficient, you may opt for the Pro plan, which entails a monthly fee of $199 for 100.000 messages. Additionally, the first plan with live chat is this one:

A dashboard made available by Pandorabots displays the quantity of users, interactions, and sessions:

Analytics

Additionally, they offer the unprocessed logs of each exchange with your chatbot:

They also offer the unprocessed logs of each interaction your chatbot has with you:

These analytics, in my opinion, are fairly limited and make it difficult to enhance your chatbot’s responses. To me, this is a major disadvantage. You would think that with Pandorabots’ apparent emphasis on AI and user comprehension, they would have a more sophisticated analytic system. Sending the raw logs to an outside system—like a Firebase database—and building your own dashboards off of it is feasible.

Templates

You can use the One Small Talk template offered by Pandorabots to get your chatbot going. Additionally, you can simply copy the contents of your AIML files and share them with others because Pandorabots is open source. This makes it simple for you to share your chatbot flows with others by copying them!

Client Assistance

On YouTube, Pandorabots offers video tutorials that walk users through the platform’s features. They also offer instructions on how to use their platform in their documentation.

Conclusions

Pandora Bot is a sophisticated conversational AI powered by advanced natural language processing (NLP) algorithms and machine learning models. It possesses the ability to understand context, sentiment, and nuances in human communication, making interactions more meaningful and personalized. The bot continually learns and adapts to user preferences, enhancing its conversational prowess over time.

One of Pandora Bot’s key features is its multilingual proficiency, enabling users from diverse linguistic backgrounds to engage in seamless conversations. Its speech recognition capabilities further contribute to its versatility, allowing users to interact through both text and voice inputs. This adaptability makes Pandora Bot an inclusive and accessible tool for a global audience.

So, if you want to build chatbots, should you purchase Pandorabots? No, I wouldn’t advise doing that. And their live chat is to blame for this. When a chatbot using Pandorabots doesn’t understand the user, it isn’t possible to automatically transfer the conversation to a human agent. The only ways to interact with the chatbot are by opening the conversation manually and pausing it, but how can you tell when to do so? That’s right, you don’t.

But what if you have no trouble using their live chat feature? Then, would I suggest it?

I believe I would only suggest it to developers or large companies. You have to code in AIML if you want to design a good chatbot flow. Additionally, you must establish a connection with an external database in order to store user data. This isn’t feasible for the majority of businesses, in my opinion, unless they are very large or developers.
